sallypointer.com is the trading part of the work done by Sally Pointer and Gareth Riseborough into finding ways to make early materials, ideas and technologies practical, accessible and desireable for both a modern lifestyle and for historical re-enactment use.
The majority of our items are made by hand, by us in our family run workshops in the heart of the Welsh Valleys. Where an item has been made elsewhere to our specifications, or sourced as a useful extra to our range, we try to make this clear in the text about the item.
Many of our items are one offs, and even where we offer more than one of the same item, the nature of handcrafted work means that most items have a unique character of their own.
Where an item is based directly on a historical example we try to offer enough information for the discerning re-enactor to be able to make a decision as to whether it will fit their own standards of authenticity. Please be aware though that some of our items are inspired by the past rather than directly modelled on it. We do try to make the distinction clear!
