Knitted to your specifications on our antique circular sock machine, these stockings have proven popular with Tudor and later re-enactors to go with high status costume.

Double thickness pure silk yarn in these stockings gives a good coverage and is an ideal choice for male legs where the hose will be on show, though also popular with the ladies where a very smooth strong stocking is required. These are the dark red ones in the photo. Hand wash.

When ordering, please let me know your foot length and what height you would like your stockings to reach. I will also need to know approximately whether your legs are slim, average or heavy so I can adjust the tensions for the best possible fit. Please note that it is possible that these stockings will not work well on extremely heavy legs as silk does not stretch in quite the same way as wool. Ask if you are unsure, I'm very happy to discuss options with you before finalising your order. Stockings are generally made to reach a little above the knee but we can make longer as required.

Colour availability does vary, I currently can't get a bright white but do have several undyed natural whites/ivory/cream shades for example(see below) which are good staple shades and can be dyed later if you wish, and other shades may be available- I currently have a few nice blues, mushrooms and brown silks in stock. Please allow us about three weeks to make your stockings once ordered, though if I can possibly do them sooner I will.
