Sally has a specialist research interest in the history and reconstruction of cosmetics and perfumes across time. In a BBC documentary celebrating the 200th anniversary of the classic novel, Sally was asked to provide make-up services to the cast using accurately reconstructed cosmetics (We did leave out the lead though!). At the time, this was the first film production filmed entirely using cosmetics accurately reconstructed to historical records, rather than ‘stage make-up’.

Sally has also provided consultant research services and demonstrations of historically accurate reconstructed cosmetics and hygiene products for a number of other TV series over the years, whether its a costumed interpretation of the application of Elizabethan cosmetics, a scholarly exploration of Tudor tooth care, or even making real sheep-gut condoms for Casanova on film, she is adaptable, well researched and efficient with a huge range of replica props and ingredients available.
