Balmoral Bonnet -to order
A hand-knitted Balmoral bonnet which has been heavily brushed and fulled (felted) after knitting to create a thick dense warm bonnet suitable for re-enactment/costume wear. I can make any shade combination you wish, but these are particularly popular in a very very dark brown natural fleece shade with traditional small (3x4 stitches) red and white dicing, or blue-black or navy with larger (4x5) red, white, green dicing. Toorie optional in the shade of your choice.
Should fit most head sizes, but please feel free to email if you would like me to make it to suit a particular head measurement. I can also add a half or 3/4 lining as per the Forage Caps, please choose the add on option for this.
This would look wonderful with traditional Highland dress. Bonnet is usually made with a broad crown, but if you would prefer a neater, smaller crown, this can be done for no extra charge, just let me know when you order and I'll make the necessary modifications when I knit your hat.
Made to order. The way our order book is currently working, we open the shop approximately once a quarter for new commissions and shut it again once we have as many orders as we think we can realistically make over the next three months or so. Please be aware that your order may fall anywhere into that timescale. We'll always aim to be as prompt as we can.
