Heavyweight Wool Stockings
The same styling as our seamed stockings, but in a slightly heavier 2/9nm pure wool yarn that also comes in a useful range of completely undyed shades-of-sheep (pic attached of current undyed shades excluding the undyed white, we can also get a limited palette of other dyed shades including ‘clouded’ blue or grey.
A good consideration if you need more robust stockings, but be aware that the knit is denser and they will fit more tightly and feel stiffer than the softer yarn used in the main range and may not suit very sensitive skin or very heavy calves (the largest we can fit with these is about 22 inches using a special setting, standard fit more like 19 inches max at the calf).
Available with a common heel for the closest approximation of early stocking types, or a comfortable short-row heel if nobody will be inspecting your feet! Stockings reach a couple of inches over the knee on most wearers. (More images coming soon, bear with me! The image of the Clouded Stockings is a similar length to these too) Do ask if you'd like to see colour charts before ordering, some of the undyed shades are 'flat' and some have a slight speckle to them where different fleece have been blended.
If required, I can make these in a 'thigh high' option, whch will bring these up to well on mid thigh- but please note, the approximate maximum thigh width is still around 22inches, so best for slimmer frames. Photo of some in action courtesy of Adam Hodges-Leclaire, Peryn Westerhof Nyman, and Noël Heaney.
Made to order. The way our order book is currently working, we open the shop approximately once a quarter for new commissions and shut it again once we have as many orders as we think we can realistically make over the next three months or so. Please be aware that your order may fall anywhere into that timescale. We'll always aim to be as prompt as we can.
