Scots Bonnet, to order
Hand-knitted Scots bonnet (broad bonnet) in pure wool, heavily brushed and fulled (felted) after knitting to create a thick dense warm bonnet suitable for re-enactment/costume wear, and also extremely popular with Highland dress. Measured flat these are typically 11, 12 or 13 inches in diameter and feature a fully adjustable headsize as there is a ribbon run inside the ribbed narrow band to allow you to secure the bonnet at whatever size suits you. I am happy to make the bonnet a little larger or smaller. A wide variety of dyed and undyed shades are available, most popular ones are listed, but feel free to request something specific, I often have to dye the yarn for these to order. A toorie is an optional extra, very early bonnets rarely have them, later ones frequently do.
When you add this to your cart, you'll get a details form where you can tell me the shade, sizing and any other features you require.
Made to order. The way our order book is currently working, we open the shop approximately once a quarter for new commissions and shut it again once we have as many orders as we think we can realistically make over the next three months or so. Please be aware that your order may fall anywhere into that timescale. We'll always aim to be as prompt as we can.
