Fine Worsted Stockings
Every now and then a ‘holy grail’ yarn comes my way, this is one of those times!
British grown and worsted spun, undyed ecru, smooth fine pure Corriedale wool with a twist designed for hosiery use. Yes, really! All that and I've got some to make stockings for you with.
Scaled to come properly over the knee, with a purl row back ‘seam’ as standard (but say if you'd like yours making without it), choose from a comfortable short row heel or a ‘common herl’ which more closely mimics early styles with it's square construction and three needle bind off under the foot. Made using an antique hand cranked stocking machine with 108 needles, these stockings are much finer and more densely knit than my Woollen Stockings and have a smooth firm feel by comparison.
Made to order, I will need your shoe size and any comments on fit if you require a narrower or wider leg fit than usual. Like all my made to order items please allow up to three months for me to make everything in a batch of orders.
