That Orange & Blue Hat- to order
Based on a hat from the deposits at Spitzbergen and now on display in the Rijksmuseum, the original is dated c1650-1700. My approximation features the same irregular stripes, small brim and eardents and has an undyed lining layer so that you can reverse the hat for two different styles. Offered in naturally dyed woad and madder yarn for an accurate and subtle effect.
The hat in the pictures used deliberately mottled yarns for a weathered look, and the natural dye tends to make every hat unique, but if you prefer a slightly more solid version, or a different undyed shade internally, no problem, just let me know and I'll select yarn accordingly.
This is generally a 'one size fits most' hat, but if you would like me to check it against your headsize when I block it, let me know the relevant measurement when ordering.
As with all my custom hats, I'll send you a photo once its done so I can check its as you want it. Made to order. The way my order book is currently working, I open the shop approximately once a quarter for new commissions and shut it again once I have as many orders as we think I can realistically make over the next three months or so. Please be aware that your order may fall anywhere into that timescale. I'll always aim to be as prompt as we can.
